About Zurich Wedding Photographer — Zibi Photography

I’m Zibi, a wedding photographer based in Switzerland, working across Europe and beyond. Since 2012, I’ve been capturing weddings with a focus on real moments and timeless images. I truly care about what I do and about the people I work with, that’s my promise. I always give my full attention to every wedding and treat it with the importance it deserves. My approach is calm and natural, so you can enjoy your day while I quietly document it as it unfolds.

Approach

In their own words

Q.What kind of couples do you work with?

A.Mostly people in their late twenties to early forties who are planning a wedding in Switzerland or coming here specifically for the landscape and the feeling. A lot of my couples are international. One or both partners grew up somewhere else, or they've been living across different countries and they've landed on Switzerland as the place they want to celebrate. They care about doing things well. They notice good design, they've chosen a beautiful venue, and they want photographs that match that level, honest, emotional and refined at the same time. They're also, without exception, easy to spend a day with. That matters a lot to me.

Q.How would you describe your photography style?

A.Colourful, clean and real. I photograph documentarily, which means I'm mostly observing, not directing, but I also make time for relaxed portraits that are genuinely flattering rather than stiff or staged. The colour in my work is vibrant but true to life; I'm not chasing a particular trend or filter. I want your photographs to look exactly like your wedding looked on the day, just seen through the eyes of someone who really paid attention. Clean compositions, strong light, a strong sense of place, but always with the people at the centre, not the scenery.

Q.Do you travel for destination weddings, and where do you work most?

A.Yes, regularly. Most of my work is in Switzerland - the Swiss Alps, Zurich, Lucerne, Interlaken, Zermatt, St. Moritz, Gstaad, Bürgenstock, Lake Geneva - and I also photograph weddings in nearby destinations like Lake Como. For the right wedding I'll travel further, so it's always worth asking. Switzerland is where I feel most at home professionally. I know the venues, the light, the seasonal conditions, and the logistics of getting guests from airports to mountain resorts without things going wrong. That local knowledge genuinely makes a difference on the day.

Q.What does a full wedding day with you actually look like?

A.I usually start during preparations, the getting ready, the small quiet moments before the ceremony, and stay until the dancing is well underway. In between, I'm documenting everything as it unfolds: ceremony, family photos (efficient and calm, never dragged out), the reception, speeches, first dance, and the less obvious moments like your grandmother holding your hand or your friends catching each other's eye during a toast. I typically carve out 20–30 minutes for couple portraits, somewhere with good light and a backdrop that fits the day. That's usually all we need.

Q.How do you handle family group photos without it taking up half the afternoon?

A.I ask couples to send me a short list of the groupings they want in advance, usually no more than 8–10 combinations. On the day I work through them quickly and calmly, using someone who knows the family to help call people over. It rarely takes more than 20–25 minutes. The key is having a clear list, a logical sequence, and good light. I've done this at complex multi-generational weddings with guests from four different countries and it works fine. It just takes a bit of planning beforehand.

Q.What's the best time of year for a wedding in the Swiss Alps?

A.There isn't one perfect answer, it depends on what you're after. June and September are probably the most reliable months: good light, manageable temperatures, clear mountain views and still long enough evenings for beautiful portraits around sunset. July and August are wonderful too but can be busy and occasionally hazy. Late autumn and winter weddings have their own magic, snow, clean air, the Alps looking completely different, but you need to plan around shorter days. Spring can be unpredictable but occasionally spectacular. Tell me when you're thinking and I'll be honest about what to expect.

Q.Will we feel comfortable in front of the camera? We don't usually like photos of ourselves.

A.Almost everyone says this. And almost everyone forgets about it within the first twenty minutes. I don't ask you to pose in ways that feel unnatural, and I don't bark instructions or fuss over every tiny thing. During portraits I give you something simple to do, walk, talk, look at each other, move, and photograph while you're doing that. The goal is for you to feel like you're just spending a few minutes together in a beautiful place, not performing for a camera. The photographs tend to look completely different from anything you've had taken before. That's the point.

Q.How far in advance should we book, and what does the process look like?

A.Most couples enquire 12–18 months ahead for summer weekends at popular venues, so earlier is better if you have a firm date and location. After you get in touch I'll reply within 24 hours, and if things look like a good fit I'll suggest a call so we can talk through your plans properly. From there, booking is simple: a contract and a deposit to hold the date, and then we stay in touch through the planning process. I'm not someone who disappears after you book, I'll answer questions, help with timeline decisions and check in as the wedding gets closer.

Q.Do you photograph elopements as well as full weddings?

A.Yes, and I love them. An elopement in the Swiss Alps or on the shore of Lake Lucerne with just the two of you, or you and a handful of people who matter most, can produce some of the most honest, beautiful photographs of anyone's life. There's no schedule pressure, no performance, just you in a stunning place on the most significant day of your relationship. I photograph elopements in the same way I photograph full weddings: with care, patience and full attention. Starting price and details are on the website, and I'm always happy to talk through what's possible.

Q.What makes you different from other wedding photographers in Switzerland?

A.Honestly, I think it comes down to what I'm paying attention to during the day. A lot of photographers are working to a checklist, the shots they know they need to deliver. I'm doing that too, but most of my focus is on what's actually happening between people: the expressions nobody planned, the moments that are over in two seconds, the feeling of the room at a specific point in the evening. My couples tell me afterwards that what moved them most wasn't the landscape or the venue shots, it was seeing their parents' faces, or their best friend crying during a speech they thought no one noticed. That's what I'm there for.
